From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, recently appointed game master Brennan Lee Mulligan has kept fans guessing with extensive world-building, a diverse cast of personalities, and a exciting storyline showcasing celestial beings, demons, and sinister influences expanding in power within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Spoilers for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The third episode ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will branch out from the central cast to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by Travis Willingham), the agile character (Laura), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (the player), and Kattigan (the actor).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was evident from the start that having everyone at the same party would be unworkable.
This explains, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Overture, connecting the characters’ stories before splitting into three smaller tables: Soldiers, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
As described by the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a traditionally charged fight-heavy story mode where diplomatic options are rare.
Upon first impression, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem out of place, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
First, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal first encounter with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi—whose passing started the story’s plot—exploited the foes for his personal gain, entering the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and stealing all the powerful objects to sell off.
Casimir then settled his obligations and ran away to a fortified location in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and closest confidant, seeks revenge.
- The adventurer knows the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his house’s orders to kill the fighter and instead freed him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the powerful family could assist the team reach locations they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Additionally, Teor swore a eternal obligation to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that govern the setting for a variety of reasons, making remaining behind too risky:
- Thimble and The hero are notorious outlaws.
- The warrior and The healer betrayed the influential house and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This results in them few options but to travel to the northern region in quest for the traitor.

According to the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers tables.
